世博一课教案设计

课题:The 2010 World Expo

教学背景及设计:

      本课是结合八年级学生所掌握的基础知识,针对他们的学情而设计的一课。八年级的学生相对六七年级的学生在学习上有一定的自主性,不愿被过多的限制,因此在任务设计上留给他们足够的发挥空间。同时鼓励他们自由表达自己的见解,让他们在英语学习上获得一定的自信和成功的满足感。

Teaching Objectives

Knowledge and skill Objectives:

1.  To make the students know something about the World Expo

2.  To make the students learn some new words about the 2010 World Expo

( the names of the countries pavilions, the theme of the 2010 World Expo, the service centre, the mascot Haibao, the 2010 World Expo volunteer, means of transport.)

3.  To make the students talk about their hopes of the visit to the World Expo Site.

Teaching procedure and methods:

1.  To present the lesson by pictures and videos about the 2010 World Expo.

2.  To guide the students make dialogues according to the giving situations.

3.  To arouse the students’ interest by different kinds of class activities: singing songs, enjoying short videos, discussing in groups, share others’ happiness.

Emotional, attitude and cultural Objectives:

1.  To tell the students to be lovely Shanghainese.

2.  To encourage the students to work hard for our 2010 World Expo.

Teaching Aids:  Multi-media, blackboard, videos about the history of the World Expo and the 2010 World Expo, the maps of World Expo Site.

Teaching Procedure

I. Pre-task preparation

1. Enjoy and sing the song Our Expo together.

2. Have a contest about the Expo.

II. While-task presentation

1. Have a further understanding about the volunteers.

2. Free talk: talk about what pavilions you will visit when you first visit the World Expo Site or introduce the pavilions you have visited, and why do you choose this one?

III. Post-task Activities

Group work: form a group of four or five and discuss: As junior high students, how can you make city and life better in your daily life? After the discussion, write down the ways or wishes and then report them to our class.

IV. Assignment

  1. Know more about all the countries pavilions with the help of the Internet or TV news.

Write at least 60 words about your visit to the World Expo Site.
